Rotate Image
Turn a photo the right way up, or flip it like a mirror.
or pick one from your device
Choose imageHow to rotate or flip an image
- Choose a photo, or drop it in the box.
- Press Rotate left or Rotate right until it sits the right way up. Use Flip horizontally or Flip vertically to mirror it.
- Press Download.
Tips
- Press the same button again to go further. Rotating right four times brings the photo back to where it started.
- Flip horizontally mirrors the picture left to right, like a reflection. Use it for selfies that were saved the wrong way round, but remember that any text in the photo will read backwards.
- Use Undo all to go back to the original at any time.
- Crop or resize the photo afterwards if you need a specific shape or size.

Good to know
The turned picture is saved in the same format as the original. JPG photos are saved again at high quality, so rotate once and keep the result instead of turning the same file many times. PNG and WebP keep transparent areas.
- Limits: up to 50 MB per file, and up to 8000 pixels on each side.
- The saved picture is turned for real, so it looks right in every app. Extra information stored in the photo, such as the camera or the place, is not kept.
Common questions
Why does my photo look sideways?
Some cameras store a note saying which way up the photo is, and not every app reads it. Rotate the photo here and the saved file will show the right way up everywhere.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is processed in your browser on your device and is not sent to a server.
Does rotating lower the quality?
PNG stays exact. JPG and WebP are saved again at high quality, which can cost a tiny amount of detail, so it is best to rotate only once.
Can I rotate by a small angle, like 5 degrees?
No. This tool turns in steps of 90 degrees and flips the picture. A small tilt needs a straightening tool.
What formats can I use?
JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC from iPhones. HEIC photos are converted to JPG first.
