How to crop PDF margins
- Choose a PDF or drop it on the box.
- Move the crop box or drag a corner. Use the arrow keys to move it and the arrow keys on a corner handle to resize. The crop applies to every page.
- Check the result page size, then press Save PDF and Download PDF.
Tips
- Crop the margins to remove dark scan edges, shadows, or empty space before you share the PDF.
- Use the previous and next page buttons to check each page. The same crop is applied to every page.
- If you use a keyboard, focus the crop box and use the arrow keys. Each corner can also be resized with the arrow keys.
- Cropping changes the visible area, not the file content. Text and images outside the box stay in the PDF.
Good to know
This tool changes the page CropBox, the area a PDF reader shows. Content outside the CropBox is not deleted, only hidden.
- Your original file is not changed. The result is a new PDF.
- The crop is measured from the visible page size, so it fits both portrait and landscape pages.
- A password-protected PDF must be unlocked before it can be cropped.
Common questions
Does cropping a PDF delete its content?
No. The tool changes the CropBox, so content outside the crop box is only hidden. The file size usually stays about the same because the content is still there.
Can I crop just one page?
This tool applies the same crop to every page, scaled to each page's size. To crop only one page, split it out first with Split PDF.
Can I set the crop box without a mouse?
Yes. Press Tab to focus the crop box, then move it with the arrow keys. Tab to a corner handle to resize with the arrow keys. Hold Shift for bigger steps.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is processed in your browser on your device and is not sent to a server.
Why can't my PDF be cropped?
If the PDF is encrypted or password protected, unlock it first. A damaged file or a file that is not a PDF cannot be read either.
