Tips
- Quick mode starts at once and needs no download. It makes a photo larger and a little crisper, which is enough for many uses.
- AI mode adds fine detail, so faces, text and edges look cleaner. The first time it downloads a small model, about 8 MB. After that your browser keeps it.
- AI mode works on photos up to 1200 px on the longest side. Bigger photos are shrunk to that size first, then enlarged 2x. For a very large photo, Quick mode keeps more pixels.
- A very blurry photo cannot be fully rescued. The tool sharpens what is there. It cannot bring back detail that was never in the picture.
- If the result looks harsh or has bright halos around edges, set Sharpen to Off or Light.
- Choose PNG if you plan to edit the photo more. Choose JPG for a smaller file.
Common questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Your photo stays on your device and is processed in your browser. In AI mode, only the model file is downloaded from public servers (jsDelivr and Hugging Face). Your photo is never sent there.
What is the difference between Quick and AI?
Quick enlarges the picture with smooth scaling and optional sharpening. It is fast and works on large photos. AI uses a small model to guess fine detail while enlarging, so it looks cleaner on small or compressed photos, but it is slower.
Why is AI mode slow on my phone?
The model runs on your own device, not on a server. Older phones need longer, sometimes a minute or more for a big photo. The progress bar shows how far along it is. Quick mode is much faster.
How large can the result be?
The result is limited to about 30 million pixels so your browser does not run out of memory. If you ask for more, the tool lowers the enlargement and tells you.
Will it make my ID photo or profile picture HD?
It makes it larger and cleaner. If the photo is very small to begin with, expect a modest improvement, not a studio result.
